About The Chef

Chef Andre’s roots are firmly set in the life of food. At a young age of 10 he discovered his passion for the culinary creativity and began learning the skills and techniques to become the chef he is today, preparing and baking for the family with great excitement. His favorite saying from when he started till today remains:

“I do what i love and love what i do. I find pleasure in preparing food and i am exhilarated by seeing the individuals’s first expression. No matter if it’s my mom or the president.”

He started his chef journey as a scholar at a High school and worked his way up as the top achiever in his class and deputy hotel prefect in the schools own restaurant, he took his studies further at “Prue Leith” hotel academy based in centurion in (2004).

Working as a chef and manager of a 5-star guest house for 5 years, he realized that he needed to get out and experience more of the food world out there.

While he was still at the guest house he started “Appetite on Vaal” with very little time on hand just doing some baking after hours.

Most notably, Chef Andre worked hand in hand with chef Nelis understanding more of the finer details of being a top chef. It’s only then when chef Nelis introduced Chef Andre to some of South Africa’s top corporate clients and the Embassy in Gauteng and getting a chance to cook for all of them.
